Conceptual Program of Study

Stevens & Wilkinson worked with the University of South Carolina on a Conceptual Program Study for a new Children’s Law facility. The following outlines the scope of work provided.

Proposed Historic Renovation

Our team provided a conceptual estimate for construction which successfully addressed the renovation of the historic Whaley House as well as the construction of a new 7,000-square foot annex building. In addition to the estimate, the team worked with project stakeholders to assist with the building’s site development.

Programming & Visioning Efforts

The team also assisted with programming and envisioning efforts. Various locations for the building’s new seminar rooms and meeting areas were tested for appropriate fit while studies regarding the site’s egress requirements were also analyzed.

Proposed Building Features

The existing “carriage house,” which is slated to be demolished, will house a two-story annex that will include a mock courtroom, two-bedroom residential unit with an associated stairway, and additional on-site training facilities. Site development was also considered to include an outdoor gathering space, a new “front yard” along Gervais Street and a study to maximize on-grade parking.

The study for the University of South Carolina’s Children Law Program included programming, design and estimating services.
