Fourth Floor Renovation

The Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit, located on the fourth floor of the existing Medical University Hospital, included a complete demolition and construction of a 10,000-square foot space.

Aligning A&E Designs

Working with the firm’s engineering department, our design team took extra steps to align the architectural design with each engineering systems within the envelope of the existing hospital, thus creating meaningful spaces for teaching and healing. The new unit includes 17 private patient rooms and family consultation and physician teaching areas with views to outside.

Key Interior Design Elements

Appropriate lighting levels, color and sound control were among some of the important issues addressed in the design of the University’s new Surgical Trauma Intensive Care Unit.

The new STICU at MUSC is a fourth floor renovation that features 17 private patient rooms, family consultation areas and physician teaching nodes.
