Embracing Sustainability

The design of six new classrooms at the First Montessori School of Atlanta expanded and synchronized the existing campus. The new buildings embraced sustainability through the design of butterfly roofs for rainwater collection, a high-performance building envelope, low VOC finishes for better indoor air quality and a super-efficient geo-thermal mechanical system.

Building Features

Each new classroom contains a kitchen and adjoins a class garden. Support spaces and restrooms provide separation between the classrooms, and a geothermal lawn, activity court and primary playground and athletic field provide space for outdoor play.
