New Seven-Story Structure

Located in the Central Business District of downtown Columbia, this new seven-story structure steps up to nine floors at the corner while hugging the property line. By highlighting the architectural style of the surrounding area, the design team was able to reinforce the visual axis southward to the South Carolina State House.

City Improvements

In addition, city improvements along Main Street add to the quality of the experience as parking, planters and other site elements were coordinated to align with the building’s entrances and overall design features.

Recognizing the State House Grounds

Throughout the design process, conscious efforts were made to recognize the State House grounds by extending the manicured landscape qualities northward to Lady Street. On the eastern axis of the building sits a site sensitive underground parking deck covered by a landscaped plaza, a gift from the owner to the city, that covers the center third of the entire block.
