New C.A.S. Center

The scope of services for the District's new 95,000-square foot Center for Advanced Studies (C.A.S. Center) will include, but is not limited to providing design and engineering services, planning, program, and community engagement for construction.

The District's new C.A.S. Center will consist of an initial student core of 600 students and will be located directly across from the pre-existing high school on East Montague Avenue in North Charleston. Upon completion, the Center will become one of three regional career centers in the District. Areas of study include health science technologies, information technology (IT), pre-engineering, and arts and audio-visual (AV) technologies.

The new Center for Advanced Studies will offer high bay facilities for Auto Collision Repair, Mechatronics and Building Construction, labs for STEM classes, Biomedical and Health Sciences, Cyber Security, Computer Repair, and ‘Project Lead the Way’ classes. Other areas of the building will include maker spaces, a two-story exhibition space, and a 150-seat lecture hall.

Stevens & Wilkinson is working with Women-Owned Business and Charleston-based firm architectural firm, Red Iron Architects. In addition to Red Iron, civil engineering services will be provided by Hussey Gay Bell (HGB).
