Historic Renovation

Stevens & Wilkinson provided interior design and engineering services for the complete renovation of Carolina First’s Historic Branch in Greenville, S.C. The newly renovated Carolina First building, originally built in 1938, is a great example of Art Deco architecture.

Preserving History

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, careful attention and detail were given to preserving the building’s historic significance.

Reflecting the Original Architectural Intent

In order to retain the historic value of the building, it was necessary to modify and integrate details drawn from the original plans. Due to the addition of a mezzanine in the 1980’s, the original ornamental plaster had to be recreated and repositioned, while the new stainless steel railing and grillwork were designed to reflect the architectural intent of the original structure.
