Techwood Homes, first public housing project in United States is completed. The dedication was attended by then President, Franklin D. Roosevelt.
1939
Price Gilbert House, first international style residence in South is completed and published in Life magazine. The residence is now in the National Register of Historic Places.
1940
The size of the firm grows to over 100 employees as James R. Wilkinson is promoted to Associate.

An iconic Atlanta landmark, S&W was commissioned for Rich’s downtown parking garage, the first of many projects designed for Rich’s Department Stores.

E. Rivers School, first modem school building in the South is completed and published in Architectural Forum and Time Magazine.

First commission for Sears, Roebuck and Co., in Columbia, South Carolina.

Continuing Education Center at University of Georgia is completed and showered with design awards.

Atlanta Memorial Arts Center (since renamed Woodruff Arts Center) is completed and quickly becomes an iconic landmark in Atlanta.

Executive Park, one of the first office parks in the country, is published in Fortune magazine, August 1966.
1967
In a major win for the firm, Stevens and Wilkinson is selected as joint venture architect for new Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport.
1969
Stevens & Wilkinson becomes “Stevens & Wilkinson, Inc. and moves to new offices in Equitable Building, 100 Peachtree Street in the heart of downtown Atlanta.
1974
Firm receives commission for Decatur MARTA Station, first underground station in Metro Atlanta.
1978
Columbia, South Carolina office is opened with Robert T. Lyles as Principal-In-Charge.
1979
Ralph Bunche Middle School, first major solar powered school in the United States, opens its doors in Atlanta.

Stevens & Wilkinson establishes a scholarship fund at Auburn University in honor of James R. Wilkinson.

Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport opens with largest terminal complex in the world.

Target Stores, Division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, selects Stevens & Wilkinson to design the majority of their Southeastern United States stores.

Stevens & Wilkinson establishes scholarships at Clemson University and Tuskegee Institute in addition to previous scholarships established at Georgia Tech and Auburn University.
1990
Firm receives 1990 Silver Medal Award from the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Architects for pioneering the introduction of contemporary architecture in the South and for 70-years pursuit of distinction in design.
1998
South Carolina State House Renovation, the most significant historic renovation project in South Carolina, is completed.
2000
Stevens & Wilkinson of South Carolina, Inc. receives 2001 Firm Award from South Carolina Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
2004
Stevens & Wilkinson of South Carolina, Inc., Stevens & Wilkinson Stang & Newdow, Inc., and idea|span team together to design the new Meridian Building in downtown Columbia, South Carolina. The 350,000 square-foot, 17-story building brings together the best of the firm’s architecture, engineering and interior design talents.

Stevens & Wilkinson Stang & Newdow, Inc. commissioned by the GSA Design Excellence Program for the $31 million, Tuttle Building Annex for the U.S. Court of Appeals. The project is designed utilizing BIM software and receives LEED gold certification.

The firm celebrates its 90th Anniversary
2011
Firm begins work on the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and the Georgia State University Humanities-Law Building, among other significant commissions.
2011
The design and construction of the Boeing Site Support Building in North Charleston, South Carolina was completed, paving the way for an influx of highly-skilled workers into the Charleston community.

Stevens & Wilkinson and Richard Wittschibe Hand combine practices.
