Integrated design firm rewards valued team members in Atlanta and Columbia, S.C.

(Feb. 15, 2019)Stevens & Wilkinson, a full-service architecture, engineering and interior design firm, announced the promotion of 12 key team members between its Atlanta and Columbia, S.C. offices.

“Promotions are always cause for celebration at Stevens & Wilkinson, as we truly value the opportunity to advance the lives and careers of our associates,” said Ron Stang, AIA, principal and chairman at Stevens & Wilkinson. “As we celebrate 100 Years of Excellence in Design this year, I’m excited to reward these individuals as I know they will continue to serve our company well in this landmark year.”

Below is a list of the individuals who received promotions in each office.


Elected to the Board of Directors:

Kirk Marchisen - Stevens & Wilkinson - Atlanta, GA

Kirk Marchisen, AIA, LEED AP, Principal – Director – Senior Vice President ­- In addition to his new role as senior vice president, Marchisen will begin serving on the Stevens & Wilkinson Inc. Board as director. Now entering his 33rd year with the firm, Marchisen has been instrumental in growing the Georgia office’s PK-12 portfolio. Over the last decade, Marchisen has built relationships that have led to projects from the following Atlanta area public school systems: Fulton, Cobb, Clayton, Morgan, Putnam, Atlanta, and Decatur.

 


Key Leadership Promotions:

Todd Dolson, AIATodd Dolson - Stevens & Wilkinson - Atlanta, GAEric Keens - Stevens & Wilkinson - Atlanta, GA, Vice President ­- Dolson’s leadership in Stevens & Wilkinson’s higher education market continues to grow along with the firm’s footprint on campuses throughout the South – including Georgia Southern University and Emory University.

Eric Keens, CPSM, Associate – Director of Marketing & Communications – Since joining Stevens & Wilkinson in the Fall of 2016, Keens has diligently led the expanded collaboration of the firm’s marketing department. His leadership has significantly improved the firm’s presence in each of the markets served.

Dan Boland, PE, Senior Associate Senior Electrical Engineer – Boland brings more than a decade of experience as a senior electrical engineer since graduating from Georgia Tech. He first joined Stevens & Wilkinson in January 2015, and after a short sabbatical, rejoined the firm last June. Since then, Boland has worked on projects for Auburn University, 180 Peachtree, Fulton County Schools, and Lanier Technical College.

Melissa Chanin, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Associate – Senior Architect ­- Chanin joined the firm more than 13 years ago, initially working on the international terminal at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. She has since become one of the firm’s key senior architects on K-12 school projects, including Crabapple Middle School for Fulton County and a new middle and high school for Morgan County School District.

Phil Doele, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Associate – Senior Architect – With architectural degrees from Yale University and the University of Virginia, Doele has been working for S&W for more than eight years. He most recently played a key part in the design of the new Georgia Judicial Center, serving as Senior Project Architect. As one of the firm’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) advocates, Doele also leads Auburn University’s Gavin Research Laboratory project team, which was recently completed late last year.

Adriane McGillis, AIA, Architect – Since 2001, McGillis has been the Project Architect on numerous healthcare projects, including the Prisma Parkridge Hosiptal Ambulatory Services Upfit, CaroMont Health Freestanding Emergency Care Center in Mount Holly, N.C., and the University of South Carolina’s Center for Innovation. She continues to be a key member of the firm’s BIM committee and recently became President of the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Columbia Chapter.

Walt Stellpflug, AIA, LEED GA, Architect – Now in his sixth year at Stevens & Wilkinson, Stellpfug came to the firm with 15 years of prior experience after earning architecture degrees at both NC State University and Iowa State University. Walt plays a key role in the firm’s growing Healthcare Studio working with clients that include Prisma Health/Prisma Health Richland and the SC Department of Mental Health.

Robin Trinter, PE, LEED AP BD+C, Senior Electrical Engineer – After her initial tenure from 1998 to 2004, Robin returned to Stevens & Wilkinson in 2014. During her 11 years with the firm, Robin has worked on the following projects serving as Senior Electrical Engineer: the Center for Innovation at the University of South Carolina, YMCA of Columbia Downtown Upfit, the Lighthouse at Shandon Baptist Church, and numerous additions, renovations and new construction projects for Prisma Health.


Individuals Promoted to Associate:

Grant Cherrington - Stevens & Wilkinson - Atlanta, GABarry Kahler - Stevens & Wilkinson - Columbia, SCShayla Merritt - Stevens & Wilkinson - Columbia, SCGrant Cherrington, PE, Associate – Director of Mechanical Engineering – With more than 25 years of experience, Cherrington joined Stevens & Wilkinson as the director of mechanical engineering in 2018. In less than a year, he has become a key leader in the firm’s Georgia engineering practice.

Barry Kahler, Senior Project Manager – A veteran of the industry with more than 25 years of experience, Kahler is a senior project manager who joined Stevens & Wilkinson in November 2013. Beyond working on the Columbia office’s commissions, he has also collaborated with associates at the firm’s Atlanta office.

Shayla Merritt, Marketing & Communications Manager – For the past five years, Shayla has single-handedly led the firm’s South Carolina Marketing and Communications department. Over the last few years, Shayla has helped in growing the firm’s digital prescence, both locally and regionally. Shayla currently serves on the AIA South Carolina’s Communications Committee, City Center Partnership’s Marketing Committee, MIRCI, Inc.’s Marketing Committee, and sits on the Board of Directors for MIRCI, Inc., Carolina Women for Change (CW4C), and The Talented Tenth.
