WonderRoot is an Atlanta-based non-profit arts and service organization with a mission to unite artists and the community to inspire positive social change. By providing production facilities to Atlanta-based artists and coordinating arts-based service programs, WonderRoot empowers artists to be proactive in engaging their communities through arts-based service.

Stevens & Wilkinson is providing architectural design services to WonderRoot who is planning to occupy an existing three-story load-bearing brick structure on Memorial Drive. Originally named the Atlanta Normal Training and John E. Faith Elementary School, the building was constructed in 1922 for the Atlanta School Board. WonderRoot will re-purpose existing classroom spaces into 42 private artist studios and open access studios for ceramics, photography, drawing and painting and graphic arts.

The total project buildout of 53,000 gsf also includes a new art gallery, café, and recording studio. The school’s existing auditorium will be renovated to provide state of the art audio visual and lighting components supporting live music and theater performances.
