Georgia Southwestern State University – Student Success Center Addition and Renovation

Georgia Southwestern State University had an existing gymnasium that no longer served the needs of the growing student population. It was the goal of the University to create a facility that would serve the recreational needs of the campus, but in addition, serve as a convocation hall. The AA basketball arena and convocation hall seating for 3,000 serves as the anchor point for the historic quad. The dome structure provides a clear span of space with unobstructed views of the courts and/or the stage. Design materials were carefully chosen to compliment the surrounding historic structures, while simultaneously celebrating the building’s connection to contemporary culture.
